HOMEWORK Since these classes are considered middle school courses, homework will be assigned every night Monday through Thursday for Advanced 6th Grade Math and every night including most Fridays for Advanced 7th Grade Math.
PLANNERS Students will have their weekly assignments written down in their planners on Monday. Assignments and other information can also be found on my school website and important notifications will be sent through Remind.
PROGRAM GOALS Ø Address the needs of ALL learners in the academic level classroom. Ø Create a challenging learning environment for every student. Ø Provide documentation for educational accountability. Ø Allow time for enrichment and/or acceleration for students that demonstrate that need. Ø Maximize academic growth for all students.
CURRICULUM Both the Advanced 6th and Advanced 7th grade curriculums can be found online at the district website: www.csisd.org under the Curriculum tab. Advanced 6th Grade Math covers all of the 6th grade TEKS and approximately half of the 7th grade TEKS. Advanced 7th Grade Math covers the remaining half of the 7th grade TEKS and all of the 8th grade TEKS.
Students in the Advanced 6th Grade Math Class take the 6th Grade STAAR test. Students in the Advanced 7th Grade Math Class take the 8th Grade STAAR test.
The state of Texas requires students to take the STAAR test that corresponds to the grade level that has been completely taught during that school year. Since the 7th grade TEKS are split between Advanced 6th and Advanced 7th, students take the 6th and 8th grade STAAR tests, respectively.
